Meghalaya RO, NABARD has stepped forward to sponsor this project for which an initial sum has been sanctioned already for preparation of the Diagnostic Study of the area and the Detailed Project Report (DPR). NABFOUNDATION has tied up with a prominent Civil Society Organization - North East India Committee on Relief & Development (NEICORD) for the study.
In this connection, initial base level work has been taken up NABFOUNDATION by visiting the project area for the initial survey and diagnostic study. Sanjeev D Rohilla, CEO NABFOUNDATION had a detailed discussion with village leaders of 12 villages and farmers and briefed about the concept of FPO and the opportunities that the area has for making broomsticks on their own. Kamzalian Tomging, DDM of Ri-Bhoi asserted the benefits of having their own FPO and how the FPO can generate direct and indirect employment to the farmers.
